Carry The Cup: The 2016-17 Columbus Blue Jackets Thread

Since we signed drug mule Jarrett Stoll to a PTO today, I figured that I should start the new thread! Carry!

Certainly nice to see the team start off positively.

You lost your championship-winning AHL coach already. Still have Torts, though.
  • The_SackmanThe_Sackman Wealthy Alum
When you replace a champion with John Madden--BOOM--that's a win.
  • Good to see Tortorella getting all of his losing out of the way now so he can focus on the Stanley Cup this year.

I think you'll need lasix to see the Stanley Cup.

    Me, too.

Torts, Dubinsky, Johnson:  What did USA Hockey expect?

They are undefeated if they leave that loser Abdelkader at home!

I'd let torts coach the season. I wouldn't extend him though. That may not be realistic.

Bob is playing great against Canada. Getting used to having a crap team in front of him again.

Canada is so much better than Russia.

Bob is about to eliminate Russia! What did Putin expect?

  • Sam Gagner looks REALLY good thus far.

I was a bit concerned about Alex Wennberg giving up Travis Prentice's #41 and switching to 10 but I think he's doing it as a tribute to Charlie Coles so I'm cool with it now.

BEAT BOSTON!!! Let's actually win a game before Trick Or Treat this year!!!
  • JohnnyMacJohnnyMac Senior Barfly
    What's the record? 0-9?

    Go for it, BJs!

This team is going to blow. They got smoked by one guy (Rat Boy Marchand). It's always fun to know that the season is going to be terrible halfway through the third period of the first game.

Too many young guys making young guy mistakes.

To be fair, a team with Austin Czarnik is used to beating a team based in Columbus.

    0-82.
  • fcsofenfcsofen Off-Campus Slummer
Come on, Sack. It's early. Try to have a little faith. Wings are 0-2 but I don't think they'll go 0-82. Maybe 1-81, but not 0-82.

You play us two or three times. Someone has to win.

I'm planning on going Friday when Blackhawks fans take over the arena. That should be a delightful bloodbath.

How do you guys have a six day lay-off?

Great question. I wish the league scheduled us for 82 straight days so I can start drooling over teenagers that we won't take in the draft.

Sackman will be in the house tonight when we beat the Blackhawks.

    Great game...Sackman delivers.

2-0 weekend with a good win over Chicago and a shockingly DOMINANT win in Dallas. I better hit the gym so I am prepared to hoist the Cup.

Red Wings in second place in the conference with 12 points.

BJ's in twelfth place in the conference with 5 points.

I can taste that beer right now that Sackman will buy me on February 11.

Correction: BJ's are in fourteenth place in the conference.

I will say, I do enjoy your 3rd party self references. You need to come up with a line that matches "If you smelllllllllllll what The Rock is cookin'?"

  • The_SackmanThe_Sackman Wealthy Alum
    I never agreed to that!

I'm so glad that there are only three more west coast games after tonight. I hate those.

I can't speak to the quality of anybody's schedule so far, but there is no way that anyone has started with more heavyweights than we have. Standing at 3-3-1 with the Cali trip done...I'll take that. BOB looks Vezina quality (for now) and Werenski is an all star out there.
