Unless we see departures, this would by YOUR 2020 Miami Redhawk roster.

I see Barba as a wing, so probably more of a guard, FWIW.  Barba and Etzler remind me of when we had Craig Michaelis, David Scott, and Matt Kramer.

Nickskin, any updates on Nike's pursuit of the NBA?

all I know is that he's not listed in any mock drafts for both 1st and 2nd round picks.

Add 2020 Luka Eller 6'8 PF from Lake Catholic in Mentor who apparently committed today.

No Ayah and Jovic? What did I miss?
  • coachcoach Summer Orientee
We currently have 15 scholarships committed for the 2020-21 season. The assumption is that Ayah and Jovic will forego their 5th year at Miami to get us to the limit of 13.
  • El13El13 Wealthy Alum
Will miss them, I think they both play well, when they get a chance.

Let's just keep in mind that this is speculation. I have been to practice once now, and Ayah was actively training with what apparently was the starters. I would not be surprised if his minutes increase this season (Bam is coming out of surgery and McNamara is still very much a work in progress). His footwork, free throws, and jump shot seem a bit better, but his offensive skills are still quite limited. In any case, it makes little sense to get him out of the roster given how short our roster is and the question marks surrounding our centers. Jovic might be a different story ...
  • NickskinNickskin Wealthy Alum
Absolutely speculation. However the additional 2 scholarships have to come from somewhere.

Perhaps Nike is turning pro after this season
  • DICKDICK Wealthy Alum
I would agree that Ayah is very important to this year and next.  We lack post players, and despite his 6-5 or 6-6 height, he can give many valueable and quality minutes at that position.  This year Bam is the only other option, and next year he will be gone. I see Precious as a key player for the next two seasons.
  • agcagc Off-Campus Slummer
There are so many players with similar profile in our roster that (I am 100% speculating now) I quite strongly believe another Adaway case will happen by the end of the season.

They brought the 6-7/8 transfer in to fill the quasi power forward role next year...I'm sure Ayah will be off basketball scholarship or moving on.

That said...I'm not a big fan of the roster balance and almost no power players.

This year Bam is only "size" and hes 6-7.

Next year it's up to Beck, Dalonte and hope McNmara continues to gain strength.

Ames seem very limited athletically at this point and will take time to develop.

We have one too many guard/wings.

Our roster is very short in the post. Honestly, Bam and Precious are the only true post players we have. Bowling Green for instance has at least 3 players 6'10 or taller. Our guards are going to have to help out not only defending against the interior pass but also crashing the boards.

Hate to see him go but this roster needs post players. So if Barba is gone, if it isn't The Big Ticket, then I hope it is another post player. How will we remember the Barba era?
