EMU was eliminated earlier today. The Kent-CMU game went longer than expected (Kent won 8-7) so our game won't begin until 6:45.

A win tonight means we play Kent tomorrow at 6pm. A loss means we play the winner of Toledo/CMU at 2pm.

Good guys lead 2-0 after one. Weird bottom of the first. BSU's pitcher struck out 3 but gave up an opening hit, had a bad pickoff attempt at first, allowed a walk, allowed a pair of infield singles and hit a batter. Miami left the bases loaded.

Pitching change for Ball State. Miami leads 4-0 in the 2nd. Bases are loaded with 1 out.

Edit: 4-0 after two. Three more in the 3rd and it's 7-0, good guys.

CMU was down 8-2 going into the 9th. They managed to get the tying run in scoring position before Kent was able to close it out. Miami is up 8-0 through 7. It's looking like a Kent St matchup tomorrow.

Miami wins 8-0, face #1 seed Kent in the winners bracket finals ( double elimination though).

Ball State is about the worst name you can have for a baseball program, it's like a football team from Interception U.

Kent leads 1-0 after one inning. CMU has advanced to the finals of the losing side of the bracket. If we win tonight, we play tomorrow night. If we lose, we'll play CMU tomorrow, with the winner needing to beat Kent later that night and then again Sunday afternoon.

Rough 4th inning. Kent now has a 5-0 lead.

7-2 loss. Elimination game against CMU tomorrow afternoon.

CMU was up 2-1. Then it seemed like the Chips made about a dozen errors/mental mistakes in the 4th. Miami scored 6 runs to take a 7-2 lead. But that lead didn't last long. Still in just the top of the 5th and the Chips scored 6 of their own.

    Currently 8-7, bad guys.

In an 8-7 game, the two teams have only 8 hits combined.

    Miami leads 9-8 through 7.

CMU had 2 on in the 8th but Miami gets the double play to get out of the jam. Still 8-7 heading into the bottom half of the inning.

Miami wins. Now we move on to Kent. Need to beat them tonight and tomorrow.

I'm not sure if we have any pitching left. Kent has only played two games so far and has almost their entire staff available.

So if Kent wins tonight they're in the tournament, and if Miami wins it's winner take all tomorrow?

Yep. It's a double elimination tournament. Miami has one loss and Kent is undefeated.

The Golden Flashes should lose just because of their uniforms.

    Kent leads 2-0.

Miami is down 4-0 in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded and nobody out. We just brought in the guy who was supposed to be the starter tomorrow out of the bullpen and we only have one more pitcher available. So it's not going well.

    8-0 through 7.

    Kent wins 14-0.

Miami made a significant improvement this year, lets  hope that we can keep building.  The games vs Kent the last weekend of the season and in the tourney point out that there is a significant difference between their program and everybody else.  Kent has been the dominant MAC team for a long time and just a few years ago went to the college World Series and if I remember correctly, they were down to one of the last 3 teams still standing before finally getting eliminated..  With our facilities and weather I do think it is possible for us to climb up the the level that Kent seems to play at every season, that should be our goal.

Kent State going to Lubbock as the #3 seed.  Host Texas Tech is the #1 seed. Also includes #2 Louisville and #4 New Mexico State.

Totally agree. When Hayden was hired, I remember a lot of grumbling thinking it was because his family name. He seems to have turned the program back around...we do lose Haffey which will be a huge loss, but hopefully the upward trajectory continues!

Is Haffey a legit pro prospect?

BTW: As #2 MAC team, were we even a remote possibility for an NCAA at large berth? Does the MAC ever get two teams into the field?

Non P5 Conferences with multiple teams in the tournament.

American Athletic (4) - #1 seed East Carolina, Houston, South Florida., UConn.

Atlantic Sun (2) - #1 seed Stetson and Jacksonville.

Conference USA (2) - Florida Atlantic and Southern Mississippi.

    Colonial (2) - Northeastern and UNC-Wilmington.

Missouri Valley (2) - Dallas Baptist and Missouri State.

Ohio Valley (2) - Morehead State and Tennessee Tech.

Sun Belt (2) - #1 seed Coastal Carolina and Troy.

Extremely doubtful. Though 35-20, Miami had an RPI of 149. Kent State had a RPI of 61. Compare that with the RPIs and records of teams from non-P5 conferences that sent multiple teams to the tournament.

    4 Stetson (45-11)

    12 East Carolina (43-16)

    16 UCONN (35-20-1)

    17 Coast Carolina (42-17)

    18 South Florida (35-20-1)

    21 Jacksonville (39-19)

    23 Tennessee Tech (48-9)

    25 Missouri State (39-15)

    33 Florida Atlantic (40-17-1)

    35 Northeastern (36-19)

    36 Dallas Baptist (40-19)

    39 Troy (41-19)

    40 Southern Mississippi (43-16)

    45 Houston (36-23)

    65 UNC-Wilmington (37-21)

    96 Morehead State (37-24)
