All-Decade Team - Hoops

Like football, the 2010's saw very little success in our men's basketball program especially compared to past decades. That being said there still were players who did stand out, who would you choose by position?

    =>Mavanga obviously on this list.

I'd say anyone who made it through 4 years should be on the list. But in all seriousness, here's some names in no particular order:

    D.Ringo
    J.Mavunga
    L.McLane
    G.McKnight
    E.Washington
    W.Sullivan
    Q.Rollins
    J.Harris
    A.Ballard
    N.Winbush

    Nick Winbush f
    Will Felder f
    Eric Washington g
    Nike Sibande g

I almost put in Felder. Probably should have. Wasn't sure since he was a JUCO transfer. Nike should be on the list, but I didn't include him since he's still playing. Current decade coming to an end, though, so I think it's fair to include him.

Yeah, but Felder and Nike have both put in 2 solid seasons this decade, and they're as good as we've had the last 10 years. Both great players. I was more hesitant about putting in Winbush since he came in around 07 or 08.

Tough to muster the energy to compile a team when there wasn't one single winning season in the decade.

You've been quite the ray of sunshine. I mean, you're not wrong, but buck up.

    Question-

Would this all-decade team beat any Charlie Coles team, 2005-2010?

I think so. The roster prof put together is rather solid. But overall we've fallen pretty far.

    Five Julian Mavungas would

Think I’ll take the CC squads

I think the 2007-08 and 2008-09 would beat these teams.

The 2009-10 team may lose, the others would win comfortably.

The 2008-2009 team wasn't the worst we've seen by any measure, but they were probably the softest Miami basketball team I can ever remember. They just could not compensate for losing Kenny early in the season. The second half of that season was riddled with big leads squandered and us getting blown out in the second half when our perimeter defense couldn't hold.

The 07-08 and 08-09 teams are my two favorite Miami. basketball teams I've seen (freshman in fall of 07).
No other teams have come close for me. Kenny getting hurt might have cost us a tourney appearance. It was devastating.

That 07-08 team was so much fun with Coach Henderson taking over at the end of the year.

If Tim Pollitz’s last second baby hook goes in, and we beat Kent in the MAC semis, our basketball program would look a LOT different today.

Really if Al Fisher doesn't hit a shot absolutely out of his ass in the final 5 seconds. That one still haunts me. I was locked and loaded and ready to drive to Cleveland for the final the next day.

Maybe if some other posters besides me would have worn red shirts to bdubs instead of their green green beer day shirts, we would have won.
